
June 27, 1839 – Thomas Cox and John Frierson are employed to survey the new city of Iowa City, with Leander (L.) Judson assigned to draw up the plat work.
Once the location of Iowa City had been determined (May 4, 1839), the next step was to have the land surveyed and platted.
