The Johnson County Historical Society’s Celebration of History is an all-inclusive community event showcasing excellence in historical preservation and interpretation in 2024. This event fosters the opportunity for community members to get together to evoke feelings of nostalgia, reminisce about the days of old, and look toward the future of preserving our history.

The Johnson County Historical Society is excited to once again host our annual Celebration of History fundraiser sponsored by Eldon C. Stutsman, Inc and West Bank!

This year’s fundraiser will be held Sunday, October 20th, 1-4 pm at
North Ridge Pavilion, 2250 Holiday Road in Coralville

Join us for recognizing the 2024 Irving B. Weber Award* winner for excellence in history, a silent auction, an update on happenings at the Historical Society, and refreshments. *The Irving B. Weber Award is conferred by the Johnson County Historical Society in recognition of their distinguished contribution to the research, writing, or preservation of Johnson County history.

All proceeds go toward the Johnson County Historical Society’s mission of serving the public by furthering an appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Johnson County community through education, preservation, and interpretation.

This year’s event includes a presentation by yours truly…

Our presentation is called – “Our Rich Transportation Heritage – Johnson County.” It will focus on the history of transportation in our community and the current happenings with the proposal of possible use of the CRANDIC railway between North Liberty and Iowa City, and the potential landmark designation of the Iowa City Airport. You can read more here.

Because this is a fund-raiser for JCHS, the admission fee is $50, but because you are a follower of Our Iowa Heritage, we’d like to invite you to join us at one of our sponsored tables. The cost? Only $40 per person.
