June 18, 1973 – Iowa City’s Congregational Church – located at 30 N. Clinton Street – is designated on the National Register of Historic Places.

Congregational Church of Iowa City – located on the southeast corner of Clinton and Jefferson Streets, the original church charter was established and signed by seventeen individuals on November 26, 1856. In 1868, the cornerstone to their new building on Clinton Street was laid and on December 9, 1869, the church was dedicated. It’s narrow spire has long been a local landmark in downtown Iowa City.
