Ham’s Hall – S. Dubuque Street – Iowa City

January 28, 1883 – The Iowa City Daily Republican advertises upcoming events at Ham’s Hall.

After a massive fire that destroyed many buildings on Dubuque Street (1868), the gunsmith and butter-and-eggs retailer – Daniel Ham built an expansive two-story brick building (see pic above) covering four addresses – 4, 6, 8, & 10 South Dubuque Street, adding on the second floor – Ham’s Hall – a place where Iowa Citians could meet for concerts, lectures, and other social gatherings.
