
June 30, 1906 – The 15-acre Happyland Amusement Park in South Beach on Staten Island – an enclosed park with numerous attractions and landscape features – opens to a crowd of 30,000 people.
The Great Roller Boller Coaster Amusement Company was incorporated in 1906, and the all-wooden coaster (see above picture) was soon operating at Happyland. Based on the success of penny postcards featuring the attraction, this Boller entertainment ride was quite popular for New Yorkers!
