October 11, 1978 – Irving Weber tells his adventure of taking the Rock Island Football Train to Minneapolis in 1925.
On March 31, 1980, a 125-year Iowa City tradition came to an end when the last Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific (CRI&P) Railroad freight train rolled through town. Throughout his writing career, Iowa City historian Irving Weber wrote dozens of articles about his love of the Rock Island and the little depot on Wright Street. Come re-visit Weber’s love of Iowa City’s long-standing Rock Island Railroad heritage.
