August 11, 1904 – The Daily Press announces the first “official” run of the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Rail & Light Company’s Interurban – August 13 – carrying happy passengers over the 27-mile route from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City.
Over a 120-year period (1850-1970) there were five different railway systems that attempted to serve the good people of Iowa City with passenger rail service. Today – there is none. Come reminisce with us as we review the amazing story behind the fourth: Cedar Rapids & Iowa City Interurban Railway.
