August 6, 1976 – RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) #4 comes through Iowa City on Day 6.
Every year since 1973, bicycle riders from around the world come to Iowa to ride across the state over a week’s time. The 1976 Bicentennial race covered 430 miles and went through Iowa City on August 6 and this postal cover (above) was postmarked in Iowa City.
