April 27, 1872 – With the boom town of Solon calling his name, a ‘For Sale’ ad appears in The Iowa City Daily Press, indicating that Dr. Otto Heinsius is now selling his home on the corner of Linn & Fairchild in Iowa City.
Dr. Otto Heinsius came to New York City from Prussia in 1845. And, over the next 18 years, the good doctor and his growing family had short stints in Albany, NY, Scranton, PA, and Tuscarawas, OH. But in 1863, the Heinsius finally found a place they loved – Iowa.
After eight years in Iowa City, the booming village of Solon needed a doctor and a druggist – so it was one last move for Dr. Otto – The Wanderer, and his wife, Sophia, who finally found a permanent home in 1871!
Welcome to Johnson County’s own – Solon, Iowa!
