March 20, 1950 – The Iowa City Press-Citizen features the Iowa State High School Boys Basketball Tournament opening play in the SUI Field House.
The SUI Field House – opening in 1927 – was one of the first facilities built on the west side of the Iowa River. For years, the Field House not only hosted all Hawkeye basketball games, but it was also the home of the Iowa State High School Boys Basketball Tournament.
