February 6, 1912 – The Daily Iowan runs a typical movie ad featuring the tagline “Buck Hanlon Wants To See You At The New Iowa Theatre!”

After Fred Dever moved his Pastime Theatre to a new location, T.A. (Buck) Hanlon brought his Iowa Theatre into the open spot at 14 S. Dubuque Street. Apparently, pouring money into the Iowa paid good benefits for Hanlon and his wife – including the addition of a brand new $2,000 piano!
