January 2, 1888 – The Iowa City Republican advertises The Palace Hotel located on South Clinton Street between College and Burlington Streets.
Just south of the Opera House, The Palace Hotel welcomed guests in downtown Iowa City in the 1880’s. First opened as the Pinney House, The Palace changed hands in the late 1880’s. becoming the Chicago House.
