Congregational Church of Iowa City

November 26, 1856 – Congregational Church of Iowa City – the original church charter is established and signed by seventeen individuals.

The Congregational Church of Iowa City is located on the southeast corner of Clinton and Jefferson Streets. In 1868, the cornerstone to their new building on Clinton Street was laid and on December 9, 1869, the church was dedicated. It’s narrow spire has long been a local landmark in downtown Iowa City.
