The Rehabilitation Of Old Capitol.

October 1, 1925 – With Old Capitol now rehabilitated and the West Front Lawn renovated, SUI holds its first Student Induction Ceremony on the Pentacrest.

In 1920, Old Capitol was celebrating her 80th birthday, and sadly, the old lady truly looked her age. The first three educational buildings – Liberal Arts (Schaeffer), Natural Science (Macbride), and Physics (MacLean) were all in place, and now, it was time to spruce up Central Hall. Between 1921 and 1924, a major $100,000 rehabilitation took place – taking the tired and run-down state house and turning her into the impressive hub of the new SUI campus – soon to be called the Pentacrest. In June 1924, the SUI graduating senior class presented a bronze tablet commemorating the completion of the 1921-1924 renovations of Old Capitol.
