Iowa City’s Airport Terminal – Can U Help?

The Iowa City Airport Terminal & Administration Building opened in 1953 and hosted daily flights (United and Ozark Air Lines) until 1972. The south end of the building was a restaurant that seated 30, and the second floor ballroom was rented out for large parties and community functions.

We are looking for first-hand stories from those who remember the restaurant or maybe you attended a public function held on the second floor of the Terminal.

  1. Hmm. Our Cub Scout Pack went to 2nd floor to watch planes arrive/depart. Toured entire building including redstaurant. It was a BIG DEAL fir us. Circa 1957 or 58.
