Did You Know? 1881.

The Boyer Family Of Trenton Missouri.

Happy Birthday to my grandfather, William Hollis (Hollie) Boyer – who was born on March 31, 1881 near Columbus, Ohio. The Boyers moved to Trenton, Missouri in the mid-1880’s, where Hollie’s father was the town constable. Hollie married my grandmother – Edith Agee – in 1915, and their own child – Dixie Lee Boyer – was born on January 1, 1923. Hollie Boyer was a hard-working railroad man, laboring for the Rock Island Railroad for 53 years (1898-1951) in Trenton. During the heyday of railroading, Trenton was a thriving train-switching hub for the Rock Island, with dozens of arrivals and departures on a daily basis. Sadly, Grandpa Hollie died in 1957, when I was only 6 years old. Yup, that’s me and my older brother Eric (above) with Hollie & Edie just a few years ago! Happy Birthday Gramps!
