June 25, 2013 – The two Johnson County Old Settlers’ Association Log Cabins – located in Upper City Park in Iowa City – are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
In the earliest days of Johnson County, building a log cabin – while not an easy endeavor – was the only way a new settler could have a roof over their head. As you might guess, none are still visible today, but thanks to the Old Settlers’ Association (1887-1918), we have two beautiful replicas to enjoy in City Park.
