Page G9 – 2026 Prognostications From 1976 Iowa City. Nine area students – ranging from elementary school thru high school – were asked to peer fifty years into the future and write a short essay projecting what life might look like for those living in Iowa City in 2026. Fifty years have now passed, and we thought it would be fun to offer up these nine student prognostications from 1976. Click here to read each one.
Pages G10 & G11 – Born in 1877, Cora Ressler Smith wrote – in 1961 – of her childhood memories, growing up in Johnson County. Her story was printed in this special 1976 Bicentennial edition.
Page G12 – John R. Munson offers his memories of entertainment around Iowa City during the first twenty years of the 20th century.
